Behind the Build of KidsActivityHub.co.uk

Hero visual for KidsActivityHub—a UK family activities platform with AI review summaries, filters by age and venue, built on Rails and PostgreSQL.

At InventiveTechnology.ai, we specialize in building tailored digital products that address real-world problems with clean architecture, practical AI integration, and an intuitive user experience. One of our recent builds, KidsActivityHub.co.uk, is a smart location-discovery platform that helps parents find suitable activities and venues for their children, all powered by intelligent review analysis and a curated data model.

We built this platform on behalf of a client who wanted to simplify the process of discovering kid-friendly locations across the UK.

Overview

KidsActivityHub is designed for parents, not kids. The platform allows users to:

  • Discover parks, museums, cafés, and other family-friendly spots
  • Search and filter by location, activity type, and child age range
  • Read concise AI-generated summaries of thousands of reviews
  • Access real-time information on opening hours, prices, and amenities

The result is a planning tool that eliminates the noise and friction of traditional discovery platforms by surfacing trusted, relevant, and context-aware results in seconds.

Key features

  • AI-powered review summarization

The platform uses large language models from OpenAI and Anthropic to scan and synthesize user reviews from multiple sources. Parents can see at-a-glance summaries that answer questions like “Is this café stroller-accessible?” or “Is this park good for toddlers?”

  • Smart filtering by age and category

Users can browse by child age group (1–3, 4–12, 12–19) or activity type (e.g., swimming pools, outdoor parks, educational spaces).

  • Real-time information

Venue data is dynamically updated to reflect current opening hours, pricing, and other essential details.

  • Editorial content integration

The client can publish seasonal guides and curated blog posts through a custom content management interface.

Tech stack

We built the platform using a full-featured modern stack with AI and editorial tools integrated throughout:

  • LLMs from OpenAI and Anthropic

Powering the AI-driven review summarization engine that analyzes and distills large volumes of text data.

  • Ruby and Ruby on Rails

Backend API development, server-side rendering, and admin interface tools.

  • PostgreSQL

Structured content and efficient querying for location, tags, and user filters.

  • JavaScript

Interactive client-side behaviors and dynamic search filters on the frontend.

Results

Since its launch, KidsActivityHub has been embraced by parents, educators, and local communities for its simplicity and trustworthiness. The client continues to expand the platform, with regular content updates and plans to introduce personalization and user accounts in the future.

The project demonstrates our ability to:

  • Build user-first platforms that solve real customer pain points
  • Seamlessly integrate AI into practical consumer use cases
  • Ship fast, flexible infrastructure using proven web technologies
